Deal: BlackBerry Priv Available for Just $270 in the US

BlackBerry’s very first Android smartphone, the Priv may not be the most ideal smartphone around, but it sure is a good choice for users who love the BlackBerry brand and want a smartphone that focuses on privacy. When it first launched, the Priv was almost as expensive as flagship smartphones from much more popular brands. Now, however, the smartphone can be purchased for about the same price as a 2017 mid-range handset. The Priv is currently available for just $225 on eBay from a highly rated seller. The seller does ship to a few countries outside the US, but you will obviously need to pay additional shipping charges.

The eBay seller has the STV100-2 variant in stock, which happens to be compatible with the T-Mobile and AT&T GSM networks in the US. If you are a Verizon Wireless or Sprint customer who doesn’t want to switch to another carrier, this deal is probably not for you. On the other hand, if you like the Priv and don’t mind getting an unlocked device, you should check out the listing on eBay as soon as possible. Of course, the handset’s physical QWERTY keyboard is also a reason to be interested. Since no other manufacturer sells an Android smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard currently, the Priv is one of your only options (the other being BlackBerry’s own KEYone).

The BlackBerry Priv features a 5.4-inch AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 Quad HD resolution, resulting in a high pixel density of 540 pixels per inch. Protecting the display is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core chipset, which comes with the Adreno 418 GPU. Moving on to the memory department, BlackBerry Priv offers 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB of expandable onboard storage. There is a dedicated microSD card slot on offer, so you will be able to expand the memory easily by up to 256GB. The primary camera at the rear is an impressive 18MP unit with Schneider-Kreuznach optics and optical image stabilization. Unfortunately, the selfie camera isn’t that impressive. It is a rather standard 2MP unit with support for HD video capture. Rest of the key hardware specs include a 3410mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 support, wireless charging support (optional), NFC, and all your usual connectivity features.
